Role overview:
Responsible to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines, warehousing solutions, and analytics platforms that serve operational and executive decision-making across its mining divisions. You will work within a high-performing team to ingest data from diverse source systems, ensure data quality and governance, and enable self-serve analytics at scale. This role demands deep ETL/ELT expertise, strong cloud platform skills, and a delivery mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines across batch and real-time modes using Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Informatica PowerCenter/IICS, and Microsoft SSIS.
- Build and optimise star/snowflake schema data models, subject-oriented data marts, and centralised data warehouse solutions.
- Develop PySpark transformation jobs for large-scale data processing; manage datasets in Snowflake, Azure SQL, AWS Redshift, and Oracle.
- Implement Master Data Management (MDM) solutions to eliminate duplication and establish single trusted records across source systems.
- Develop Python-based validation scripts and automated data quality checks to ensure pipeline integrity and reduce failure rates.
- Build API-driven and file-based ingestion pipelines for near-real-time data integration from heterogeneous source systems.
- Design and deliver executive Power BI dashboards and Tableau reports for C-suite and operational stakeholders.
- Ensure data governance compliance, lineage, metadata management, classification, and access control.
- Mentor junior engineers; participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and cross-functional collaboration with analytics and AI teams
Must-Have Requirements:
- 6+ years of data engineering experience with a strong ETL/ELT delivery track record.
- Hands-on expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Azure Databricks (PySpark).
- Proficiency in Informatica PowerCenter/IICS and/or Microsoft SSIS for enterprise ETL.
- Database expertise: SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Azure SQL, AWS Redshift.
- Strong Python and SQL skills; experience with data validation and transformation scripting.
- Cloud platform experience: Azure (preferred) and/or AWS.
- Experience with BI tools: Power BI and/or Tableau for executive reporting.
- Understanding of data governance, MDM, data quality, and performance tuning.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or equivalent certification.
- Experience in government, energy, or mining sector data environments.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner or Azure Data Engineer Associate certification.
- Experience with Acumatica ERP, MoEngage, or similar platform integrations.
- Familiarity with Azure OpenAI and AI model integration into data workflows.
- Prior work experience in KSA or GCC government/public sector.
